Basketball Recap: Vanguard Academy Gets the Win

If Salt Lake Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Vanguard Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Jaxon Kingston. The Knights came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 64-57 on Wednesday thanks in part to Kingston, who almost dropped a double-double with 34 points and nine boards. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Despite the defeat, Salt Lake Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Drew Hayden posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Harris, who earned nine points.

Vanguard Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Salt Lake Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Coming up, Vanguard Academy will face off against American Prep WV at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Salt Lake Academy, they will square off against Freedom Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Griffins will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
