1A-1 Region II District 8 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wolfe City, who took down 981st ranked Boles, 42-27.
Honey Grove extended the longest winning streak in 1A-1 Region II District 8 this week by beating Bowie, 31-22. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Warriors.
The Hornets' dynamic duo of Hunter Jordan and Devan Harris proved tough for the Wolves to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jordan threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns and Harris had 72 yards receiving. Ross Bostick helped Boles' passing attack out by catching one ball for 40 yards.
Jeremy Patt provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Honey Grove beat the Pirates. He completed nine passes for 111 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 79 yards. Patt's favorite target this week was Charles Sanders, who caught four passes for 57 yards.
Demontrae Finney was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 176 yards on 15 carries as Brian Lewis' team fell to Wolfe City.
Honey Grove's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Patt has thrown for 757 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Sanders has 18 catches for 325 yards. Finney leads the league in rushing with 1403 yards.
The top two teams in 1A-1 Region II District 8 will face off this week when first place Honey Grove takes on second place Boles. The Warriors beat Bowie last week, while Gordon Jordan's team lost to Travis Smith's team.
There should be lots of points scored when Honey Grove and the Hornets face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Warriors comes in having scored 390 this season, while Boles has scored 284. Honey Grove scored 31 points last week as it defeated the Pirates.
