Kinston has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Kinston Vikings and the Havelock Rams will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kinston scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 52-41 victory over West Carteret. That 52-41 margin sets a new team best for Kinston this season.
Even though Havelock has not done well against West Carteret recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Havelock secured a 39-35 W over West Carteret. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Havelock was the better team in the second half.
Kinston now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Havelock, the victory also got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went Kinston's way against Havelock in their previous matchup back in November of 2019 as Kinston made off with a 52-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kinston since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
