Even though the Trinity Christian Warriors scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, the Grafton Bearcats still came out on top. Grafton had just enough and edged the Warriors out 64-61. Given Grafton's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Warriors are ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chayce Adams, who scored 24 points. Adams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 21 or more in the last four games he's played. Carter Hartsock was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Trinity Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Grafton's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Trinity Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Grafton will face off against the Big Blacks at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Point Pleasant is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Trinity Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m.
