If the Creek Valley Storm were riding high off their 38-18 takedown of the Minatare Indians last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Creek Valley took a serious blow against South Platte on Tuesday, falling 69-30. Creek Valley has struggled against South Platte recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Ella Whiting was Creek Valley's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Whiting also led the team in assists with three. She held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
South Platte was led to victory by Isabelle Reichman and Madison Cheleen. Reichman scored 20 points along with five steals, while Cheleen scored 20 points along with five assists and four steals. Reichman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johanna Frerichs, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Creek Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for South Platte, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Creek Valley on the road again on Saturday and play against Banner County at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. Banner County has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4. As for South Platte, they will square off against Bayard at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bayard is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
