It was a good run, but Hillcrest unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder Ridge Titans. Even though they lost, the Knights' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Andrew Johnson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Cole Croft was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Thomas Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Thunder Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will venture away from home to square off against Blackfoot at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Thunder Ridge, they will head out to challenge Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
