After flying high against Doral Academy Red Rock last Tuesday, Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon came back down to earth. The Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate took an 83-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Meadows School Mustangs on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (65), the Pirate still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon saw an underclassman step up: freshman M.J. Tucker posted 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmel Hicks, who scored 15 points.
It was another big night for Ethan Fink, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points in addition to six assists and three steals for The Meadows School. That's the most steals Fink has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Uzo Nwapa, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for The Meadows School, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-68 defeat against Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas on the 29th. The Meadows School has also already played their next matchup, a 72-56 win against Sports Leadership & Management on the 29th.
