There's no place like home for the Rocky River Ravens, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past Providence with a 63-57 victory on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Rocky River's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shamari Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ross, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Rocky River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Providence, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Rocky River will head out on the road to challenge Garinger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garinger will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 531st, while Rocky River is ranked 224th). As for Providence, they will be playing at home against Cuthbertson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuthbertson has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
