The San Marcos HomeSchool Panthers came tearing into  Saturday's  game with four straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with  a   55-47  win over La Vernia. Given San Marcos HomeSchool's advantage  in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings  (they are ranked 91st, while La Vernia is ranked 225th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Marcos HomeSchool to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Kayla McGarity, who  scored 24 points. The  matchup was  McGarity's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kendall Beck, who  scored 15 points.
 San Marcos HomeSchool is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for La Vernia, their loss  ended  a  16-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 15-4.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos HomeSchool will be staying on the road  on January 9, 2024 to face off against Cornerstone Christian at 6:00  p.m.  on January 9, 2024. La Vernia and St. Anthony will face off  at 6:00  p.m.  on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Anthony has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
