Clovis West has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Clovis Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Clovis West is ranked 65th, while Clovis is ranked 58th).
There was early excitement for Clovis West after they claimed the first score on Thursday, but it was Central who ended up claiming the real prize. Clovis West fell 27-15 to Central.
The losing side was boosted by Landon Wright, who picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Wright hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for four straight games.
Meanwhile, Clovis pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Clovis East on the road by a decisive 49-34 margin.
The losing side was boosted by Deagan Rose, who rushed for 53 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns.
Clovis West's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Central, Clovis North, and Clovis East. As for Clovis, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
Clovis West came out on top in a nail-biter against Clovis in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, sneaking past 24-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clovis West since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
