This season hasn't been kind to the Hancock Central Bulldogs, who are still winless after their 13th game. They fell just short of Johnson County by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Hancock Central has suffered yet this season.
Hancock Central lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tylecia Tucker, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaliyah Hargrove, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Hancock Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of eight games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Johnson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from S'Riyah Bostick, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ziyah Lewis, who scored eight points.
Hancock Central bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Johnson County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hancock Central will square off against Georgia Military College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Georgia Military College comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Johnson County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Wilkinson County at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Wilkinson County is ranked 393rd, while Johnson County is ranked 388th).
