The Olathe Pirates came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 58-42 victory over Meeker. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Olathe was the better team in the second half.
Tyra Gray continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Olathe's points. Another player making a difference was Kiandra Liles, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meeker's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Clatterbaugh, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ainsley Selle was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Olathe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Meeker, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olathe will challenge the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Valley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Meeker, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Rams at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Averaging 49.38 points so far this season, Roaring Fork's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Cowboys better be ready for a challenge.
