They claimed a resounding 71-33 victory over Celebration on the road. Given St. Cloud's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Celebration is ranked 651st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alex Springs was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of St. Cloud's points. Another player making a difference was Diomar Ortiz, who scored ten points.
St. Cloud is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Celebration, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Cloud will take on Merritt Island at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Celebration, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Horizon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Horizon is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
