The Edinburg North Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Economedes Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Edinburg North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.
After a string of four wins, Edinburg North's good fortune finally ran out. They were outmatched by Edinburg at home and fell 86-32. While losing is never fun, Edinburg North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 817th, while the Bobcats are ranked 78th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Roxanna Rodriguez, who scored nine points along with six assists and two steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Etsel Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Economedes' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They fell 36-23 to La Joya. Economedes has struggled against the Coyotes recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Edinburg North now has a losing record at 16-17. As for Economedes, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-20.
Everything went Edinburg North's way against the Jaguars in their previous meeting back in January as the Cougars made off with a 49-23 win. With Edinburg North ahead 30-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
