After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Michigan Lutheran Seminary, Lansing Christian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Perry Ramblers. Considering the Pilgrims have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Trevor Orton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Lansing Christian got a massive performance out of Will Marl, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Marl a new career-high. Ethan Damesworth was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lansing Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
