There's no place like home for the Wootton Patriots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took down Blair 66-47 on Monday. Given Wootton's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Blair is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wootton had a senior duo take command as Yassine Idrissa scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals and Taj Smith scored 20 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Idrissa has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khairi Hyde, who scored seven points along with ten assists.
Wootton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Blair, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wootton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Watkins Mill at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Watkins Mill has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. Blair won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Paint Branch at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Paint Branch is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.1 points per game.
