Happy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Knox City Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Happy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Knox City likes a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, Happy rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 36-30 victory over Follett.
Meanwhile, Knox City put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Kress at home to the tune of 51-6. The result was nothing new for Knox City, who have now won nine games by 45 points or more so far this season.
Knox City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristin Baxter led the charge by rushing for 62 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Cameron Hernandez was another major influence, as he rushed for 40 yards and ran in a TD.
Happy pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for Knox City, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Everything came up roses for Happy against Knox City in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Happy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
