It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the El Campo Ricebirds can now relate to. They took a serious blow against the Bulldogs on Friday, falling 54-18. El Campo's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Ricebirds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephen Norman, who rushed for 80 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 39 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
It was another big night for Rickey Stewart, who rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry for Chapel Hill. Stewart hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Brisbon jr, who threw for 141 yards and four touchdowns.
El Campo's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Chapel Hill, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
El Campo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chapel Hill will square off against Iowa Colony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Iowa Colony is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
