Even though the Broome Street Academy Warriors scored an imposing 84 points on Thursday, the Our Saviour Lutheran Falcons still came out on top. Our Saviour Lutheran rang in the new year with a 94-84 win over Broome Street Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Our Saviour Lutheran also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.
Broome Street Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Acevedo, who scored 26 points along with three steals. Acevedo is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Isaac Foster was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Our Saviour Lutheran now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Broome Street Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5.
Our Saviour Lutheran is on the road again on Saturday and play against Don Bosco Prep at 8:00 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Don Bosco Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Broome Street Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on January 5th.
