Rocky Mount Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kobe Davis, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Airron Davis, who scored ten points.
Southeast Halifax's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trayvese Silver led the charge by scoring 22 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Travis Johnson Jr., who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Rocky Mount Prep's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Rocky Mount Prep will head out on the road to face off against Northampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northampton County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rocky Mount Prep in North Carolina (Northampton County is ranked 230th, while Rocky Mount Prep is ranked 569th). As for Southeast Halifax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roanoke Rapids at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Roanoke Rapids focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
