Even though the Glynn Academy Terrors have not done well against the Brunswick Pirates recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Glynn Academy walked away with a 61-51 win over Brunswick. The win was familiar territory for Glynn Academy who now have three in a row.
Martin Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Spaulding, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Brunswick's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauryn Walker, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Shania Jones, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Glynn Academy pushed their record up to 8-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Brunswick, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Glynn Academy on the road again on Saturday and play against Effingham County at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Effingham County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Glynn Academy is ranked 159th). As for Brunswick, they will be playing at home against Grovetown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grovetown is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
