Hooks is a perfect 10-0 against Redwater since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hornets will look to defend their home field against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hooks' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against New Boston as they made off with a 19-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.
Mollie Guantt and Keeli Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Guantt got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Harris got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Guantt has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Rankin, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Hooks hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Redwater, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Queen City on Tuesday. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Addison Bruner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Redwater let Alivia Thompson and Laney Johnson run wild. Thompson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Avery Barron, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Hooks' victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Redwater, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hooks hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it's not like Redwater struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hooks got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Redwater by a conclusive 17-6 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
