Basketball Game Preview: Toll Gate Titans vs. Tiverton Tigers

The Toll Gate Titans will challenge the Tiverton Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Toll Gate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Toll Gate sidestepped Davies Career & Tech for a 53-51 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Toll Gate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden Healey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Healey a new career-high in assists (six). Jack Colvin was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Tiverton faced off against North Providence on Friday. Tiverton had to suffer through a 75-45 loss at the hands of North Providence. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Cougars are ranked fourth).

Toll Gate will need focus on slowing down Caleb Purcell, one of several Tiverton players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan King, who earned nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Tiverton and nudges their season record down to 1-12-1. As for Toll Gate, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Toll Gate didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Tiverton when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 45-39 victory. Will Toll Gate repeat their success, or does Tiverton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
