The Williamsport Millionaires's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 67-50 bruising from Cumberland Valley on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Williamsport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Cumberland Valley is ranked 16th).
Cumberland Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JJ Lebo, who scored 22 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Lebo grabbed two or more steals. Creston Austin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Williamsport's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Cumberland Valley, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Williamsport will square off against Samuel Fels at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cumberland Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlisle is on a four-game streak of home wins, Cumberland Valley a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
