Even though the Chapin Eagles have not done well against the River Bluff Gators recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Chapin came out on top against the Gators by a score of 44-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chapin.
Chapin found their leader in underclassman Reagan Haggard, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Haggard hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Keke Wright, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
River Bluff lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jenna Johnson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Meghan Tucker was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Chapin's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for River Bluff, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Chapin will stay at home for another game and welcome the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Lexington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday. As for River Bluff, they will head out on the road to challenge the Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (White Knoll is ranked 150th, while the Gators are ranked 141st).
