Kettle Run saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to eight entering the fourth.
The loss snapped the Hawks' 4-game winning streak.
Carlos Vegerano played well for KR in the victory. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns.
Skyline's lone touchdown came on a defensive play in the third quarter.
The Nokesville school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 26-7.
The loss comes after Skyline defeated Wood 39-19 last week.
Kettle Run (5-0) goes up against Handley in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Skyline (4-1) locks horns with Millbrook in a AA Northwestern game.
