After a string of eight wins, the Blackford Bruins's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 47-32 to Jay County. Blackford has struggled against Jay County recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Blackford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savanna Morris, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals. Bralee Vanskyock was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Blackford's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for Jay County, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackford will be home for the holidays to greet Elwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Blackford is ranked 55th). As for Jay County, they will be playing at home against New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully New Castle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Friday.
