After a string of five wins, the Whiteland Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their tough 68-43 loss to Center Grove might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Whiteland has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Whiteland still got an impressive performance from Gavin Stubbe, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jaskirat Banwait, who scored six points along with five assists.
Center Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joey Schmitz led the charge by scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Bundy, who scored 16 points along with seven assists.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiteland on the road again on Friday and play against Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. One thing working in Franklin Community's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. Roncalli will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Center Grove is ranked 30th).
