Jordan Strauss was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Haddon Township got a big performance out of Mikayla Callahan, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Callahan's first of the season. Julie Broderick was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Haddon Township kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Haddon Heights entered their tilt with West Deptford on Saturday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Garnets have posted against the Eagles since May 2, 2019.
Haddon Township has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Haddon Heights, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Haddon Township was able to grind out a solid victory over Haddon Heights in their previous meeting on April 3rd, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
