The Baldwin Indians will face off against the Andrew Jackson Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
On Friday, Baldwin got the win against Ribault by a conclusive 35-12. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Baldwin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nashawn Jacobs out in front who rushed for 128 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Screws, who threw for 231 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Andrew Jackson). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 58-0 victory over Englewood. The Tigers have beaten the Rams the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.
Andrew Jackson's win came from a few key players Baldwin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jeremiah Hampton, who rushed for 78 yards and three scores on only five carries. Antonio Queen was another key back, rushing for 105 yards on only nine carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Andrew Jackson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Andrew Jackson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Charles Ward and Brayden Hankins. Hankins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The win got Andrew Jackson back to even at 4-4. As for Baldwin, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Baldwin has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 350.9 total yards per game. It's a different story for Andrew Jackson, though, as they've been averaging only 242.1 total yards. Will Baldwin be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Tigers flip the script?
Baldwin barely slipped by Andrew Jackson when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 10-9. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
