The Goochland Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Orange County Fighting Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Goochland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Orange County is ranked 117th).
Goochland suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Fluvanna County, falling 51-19. Goochland has struggled against Fluvanna County recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though Orange County has not done well against Louisa County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Orange County claimed a resounding 50-19 victory over Louisa County at home. Orange County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 24 points or more this season.
Orange County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Mastin, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hebert, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Goochland bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Orange County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
Goochland was taken down by Orange County 88-12 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Goochland was down 48-4.
