Chris Gioia put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Quinn Weber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Alex Tran, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Rutherford's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Westwood, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
