The South View Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Purnell Swett Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, South View was not quite the Pirates' equal in the second half on Friday. South View received a tough blow as they fell 70-55 to the Pirates. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, South View saw an underclassman step up: Jakari Jordan scored ten points along with six blocks. Another player making a difference was Chase Evans, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Purnell Swett's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jack Britt.
Despite their defeat, Purnell Swett saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jodi Freeman, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Collin Sampson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
South View's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Purnell Swett, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: South View have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Purnell Swett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
