In what's become a running theme this season, the Northside - Pinetown Panthers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 71-42 win over Jones at home. With Northside - Pinetown ahead 38-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Northside - Pinetown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffin Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tate Gibbs, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Defeat or not, Jones got some senior leadership from Keonte' Roberts and Gabriel Butler. Roberts scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Butler. scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Roberts is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Gjamarion Burris was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Northside - Pinetown and bumps their season record up to 13-5. As for Jones, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside - Pinetown will take on Lejeune at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lejeune is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Jones, they will be playing at home against Pamlico County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Averaging 57.2 so far this season, Pamlico County's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Jones better be ready for a challenge.
