After six games on the road, Shishmaref is heading back home. They and the Aniguiin Eagles will face off on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Shishmaref's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
Shishmaref blew the out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturdaythe got their revenge. Shishmaref fell just short of the by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Shishmaref's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Fred Olanna, who scored 21 points, and Louis Iyatunguk who scored 20 points. Iyatunguk is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Aniguiin, who are still winless after their fourth game. They had to suffer through a rough 109-61 loss at the hands of Martin L Olson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Aniguiin in their matchups with the Lynx: they've now lost three in a row.
Shishmaref dropped their record down to 8-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Aniguiin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for Shishmaref against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 79-23 victory. With Shishmaref ahead 46-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.
