The Lake Region Thunder waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Gainesville with a 70-64 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lake Region's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dwayne Lattimore, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Lattimore is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Brenton Allen, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Lake Region has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Gainesville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Region will take on Lake Buena Vista at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lake Buena Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday. As for Gainesville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Newberry at 7:30 p.m.
