After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Girard, the McKinley Red Dragons were happy to have found some success on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lakeview 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win McKinley has posted yet this season.
Among those leading the charge was Katie Heinselman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Heinselman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Ferri, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
McKinley's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Lakeview, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKinley will take on Hubbard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Hubbard is ranked 577th, while McKinley is ranked 584th). As for Lakeview, they will head out on the road to square off against Mathews at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
