The Monsignor Farrell Lions were the 52-51 winner over the Fordham Prep Rams when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Monsignor Farrell took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fordham Prep. While losing is never fun, Monsignor Farrell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while Fordham Prep is ranked 162nd).
Fordham Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Kapfer, who scored 18 points. The game was Kapfer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Charles Panarella was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Monsignor Farrell's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Fordham Prep, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
Monsignor Farrell will be playing in front of their home fans against Moore Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fordham Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Monsignor McClancy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
