Westover and Bainbridge are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Westover Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Bainbridge Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westover is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
Last Tuesday, Westover earned a 40-33 victory over Tift County.
Westover can attribute much of their success to Anthony Milton, who scored eight points along with four steals, and Bryson Carter, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Traveion Wheeler, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bainbridge was able to grind out a solid win over Thomas County Central on Tuesday, taking the game 56-47. Given Bainbridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Thomas County Central is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westover's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Bainbridge, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Westover was able to grind out a solid victory over Bainbridge in their previous meeting on January 5th, winning 54-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westover since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
