A well-balanced attack led Grove Christian School over Amelia Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Grove Christian School strolled past Amelia Academy with points to spare, taking the game 54-35. The victory was some much needed relief for Grove Christian School as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Grove Christian School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sidney Fisher out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fisher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emily Hopkins, who scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Richmond Christian put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Portsmouth Christian as Richmond Christian made off with a 58-35 victory. Given Richmond Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Portsmouth Christian is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Grove Christian School back to even at 7-7. As for Richmond Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Grove Christian School was dealt a bruising 53-21 loss at the hands of Richmond Christian when the teams last played back in January. Can Grove Christian School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
