It was a banner season for high school football in Northern California, as reflective by team and individual efforts. Here are the MaxPreps All-NorCal First and Second Teams from the following sections: Central, North Coast, Northern and Sac-Joaquin.
MaxPreps All-NorCal High School Football Teams
Player of the YearNajee Harris, Sr., AntiochA repeat MaxPreps and San Francisco Chronicle Metro Player of the Year winner, Harris is one of the most spectacular players in Northern California history. At the very least, he's the most prolific rusher in NorCal history, having chugged, powered and sprinted for 7,948 yards and 99 touchdowns. Already enrolled at Alabama, Harris rushed for 2, 2776 yards and 36 total touchdowns and 15 two-point conversions this season after going for 2,744 and 36 as a junior, when the Panthers produced their first 10-0 regular season since 1977. This season, Antioch reached its first North Coast Section final in 39 years.
All-Purpose Player of the YearMason Hurst, Sr., Del Oro (Loomis)The Sacramento Bee's Player of the Year, headed to Cal Poly, did a lot of everything in fueling the Golden Eagles' march back to the CIF State championship. Hurst caught 78 passes for 1,615 yards and 16 touchdowns in producing 2,092 all-purpose yards, including playing on special-team returns. As a defensive back, Hurst made 75 tackles and had two interceptions.
Offensive Player of the YearRonnie Rivers, Sr., Freedom (Oakley)The Bay Valley Athletic League MVP over the more celebrated Najee Harris of Antioch, Rivers rushed for 2,239 yards and 33 touchdowns to power the Falcons to the NorCal Division I finals, falling to St. Mary's (Stockton). Against Antioch, Rivers, who is headed to Fresno State, rushed for 389 yards and seven scores in a 65-28.
Defensive Player of the YearNate Landman, Senior, Monte Vista (Danville)The Bay Area Preps East Bay Defensive Player of the Year, Landman excelled on both sides of the ball, especially at linebacker in leading one of the best teams in school history. The Colorado-bound stopper helped propel the Mustangs to the North Coast Section Division I championship in finishing 12-1, losing only to top-ranked De La Salle. He had 32 tackles for loss.
Coaches of the YearSmall Schools - Napoleon Kaufman, Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland)A retired NFL running back who played six seasons with the Oakland Raiders, Kaufman led the Dragons to a 15-1 season and the CIF State Division 5-AA championship. He relied heavily on the run - he was a running back, after all - and the old-school model produced the best team in school history.
Medium Schools - Trent Merzon, Oakdale An Oakdale alumni who coaches with unique pride and passion in embracing the old-school Wing-T, Merzon inspired the Mustangs to win 14 of their last 15 games, culminating in the CIF State Division 3-A championship. In his 17th season, Merzon, the Modesto Bee Coach of the Year, had a young team that came of age in a hurry in winning the Valley Oak League, the Sac-Joaquin Section D-3 and NorCal and the state title.
Large Schools - Tony Franks, St. Mary's (Stockton)An alumni of the school and the winningest coach in program history, Franks led the best team in the history of Stockton to record heights. The Rams knocked off four-time defending Sac-Joaquin Section champion Folsom in the Division I finals 56-25, then outlasted Freedom (Oakley) 49-40 to win the CIF NorCal Division I title before losing a heart-breaker to Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) in the CIF State finals.
First Team Offense

QB - Jake Haener, Sr., Monte Vista (Danville)Haener, the
first team All Bay Area Preps pick headed to Washington, passed
for 2,976 yards and 37 touchdowns in leading the Mustangs to the North
Coast Section Division I championship.
QB - Jake Dunniway, Sr., St. Mary's (Stockton)The Stockton Record
Player of the Year, Dunniway passed for 4,066 yards and 46 touchdowns
for a team that rolled to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I and NorCal
D-I crown to reach the CIF State finals. The Rams scored 833 points, the
fourth most in state history, according to Cal-Hi Sports.
RB - Elijah Dotson, Sr., AntelopeA
Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick, Dotson set school records for rushing
yards in a season with 2,223 yards and 25 touchdowns for a program that
went 12-1.
RB - Dusty Frampton, Jr., St. Mary's (Stockton)Frampton
came alive - pun intended - in the postseason, rumbling past Folsom and
Freedom in the Sac-Joaquin Section and NorCal finals, going for 283 and
359 yards, respectively, with eight total touchdowns. He finished with 2,345 yards and
42 scores and earned Stockton Record honors.
RB - Kairee Robinson, Jr., De La Salle (Concord)A
first team pick by the All Bay Area Preps team, Robinson rushed for
2,012 yards and 25 touchdowns for a Spartan program that reached another CIF
State Open Bowl game.
WR - Isaiah Hodgins, Sr., Berean Christian (Walnut Creek)The Oregon State-bound big target (6-foot-4) had 94 receptions and 21 touchdowns for the small-school program that played big. He made first-team All Bay Area Preps.
WR - Gavin Reinwald, Sr., Elk Grove A Sacramento Bee All-Metro selection, Reinwald's great hands and desire to compete make him an intriguing recruit with multiple offers. He helped Elk Grove to an 11-2 mark.
WR - Drake Stallworth, Sr., Folsom Versatile, swift and fun to watch, The Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick helped power Folsom to its seventh Sac-Joaquin Section title appearance, catching 19 touchdowns. He's headed to Hawaii.
TE - Erik Krommenhoek, Sr., Monte Vista (Danville)A first team All Bay Area Preps member headed to USC, Krommenhoek caught seven touchdowns and played strong defense as well for a team that won the North Coast Section Division I title.
TE - Jimmy Jaggers, Sr., RosevilleA Sacamento Bee All-Metro pick, the UCLA-bound Jaggers is the most heavily recruited football player in the history of the school, which is more than 100 years old.
OL - Aaron Banks, Sr., El CerritoA first team All Bay Area Preps selection, Banks is the top-rated lineman prospect in Northern California. The 6-7, 320-pound Earth mover is headed to Notre Dame.
OL - Dylan McCreery, Sr., Valley Christian (San Jose)A first team All Bay Area Preps pick, McCreery was a force in the trenches for a team that averaged nearly 270 yards rushing.
OL - Alijah Vera-Tucker, Sr., Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland)A San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro pick, Vera-Tucker is headed to USC.
OL - Devon Taylor, Sr., PittsburgAs large as he is talented at 6-3 and 330 pounds, the San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro pick helped the Pirates average 483 yards a game.
OL - Orlando Umana, Sr., Grant (Sacramento)A Sacramento Bee All-Metro selection, Umana is the next national recruit Pacer in the trenches. He overwhelmed foes.
ATH - Leki Nunn, Sr., Serra (San Mateo)The heart and soul of the Padres and the South Bay Player of the Year by Bay Area Preps and the San Francisco Chronicle, Nunn willed his team from an 0-4 start to the CIF State Division 2-A title game. He accounted for 3,103 yards, including 1,972 passing, and he had his best games in three playoff wins, scoring 17 times.
ATH - Jordon Brookshire, Sr., Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa)A three-year starter and the San Francisco Chronicle North Bay Player of the Year, Brookshire accounted for 4,391 yards and 56 touchdowns for a team that reached the NorCal finals. He passed for 2,815 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed for 1,576 and 32 for the North Coast Section Division IV winners and he finished his career with 11,498 yards and 125 scores.
ATH - Montaz Thompson, Sr., PittsburgA San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Area Preps pick, Thompson overcame injuries to produce another big season, rushing for 1,630 yards and 27 scores in nine games while also playing on defense and special teams.
ATH - Dalton Gee, Sr., Del Oro (Loomis)A two-way starter for three years and a Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick, Gee was a strong runner who could catch the ball and also made plays on defense for a repeat Sac-Joaquin Section champion.
ATH - Trajon Cotton, Sr., Inderkum (Sacramento)One of the most dynamic athletes in school history and a Sacramento Bee All-Metro choice, Cotton played quarterback and in the secondary for a Tigers team that reached the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals.
ATH - Will Semone, Sr., OakdaleThe Modesto Bee Player of the Year, Semone powered the Mustangs to a 14-2 season that ended with a 47-0 win over Bishop's (La Jolla) in the CIF State Division 3-A finals. He rushed for 219 yards an six scores in that game and finished the postseason with 1,684 yards in going for a Stanislaus District record 2,851 yards.
K - Peyton Henry, Sr., Monte Vista (Danville)A San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro pick, Henry has a booming, accurate leg and is headed to Virginia on scholarship.

DL - Popo Aumavae, Sr, St. Mary's (Stockton)A repeat MaxPreps stopper and Stockton Record pick was a magnet for double teams but still altered games for a team that roared to the Sac-Joaquin and NorCal Division I titles.
DL - Tucker Fisk, Sr., DavisA Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick headed to Stanford, Fisk dominated the trenches and also played linebacker for the best Davis team in more than a decade.
DL - DJ Johnson, Sr., Burbank (Sacramento)A Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick, the Miami-bound star is the most heavily recruited athlete for any sport in the history of the school, which opened in 1963.
DL - Tuli Letuligasenoa, Jr., De La Salle (Concord)A Bay Area Preps pick and perhaps the area's top recruit for next fall, big Tuli was dominant on a defense that dominated down the stretch.
DL - Heikoti Vaisima, Sr., Clayton Valley Charter (Concord)A San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Area Preps pick, Vaisima had 66 tackles despite double teams and helped power the Ugly Eagles into the NorCal Open playoffs.
LB - Joshua Falo, Sr., Inderkum (Sacramento)The Sacramento Bee's Defensive Player of the Year played defensive end, linebacker and all over the field as a game-changing terror in leading the Tigers to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals.
LB - Kyle Harmon, Sr., Freedom (Oakley)A San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Area Preps pick, Harmon had 146 tackles for a team that reached the NorCal Division I final.
LB - TC Lavulo, Sr., Serra (San Mateo)A Bay Area Preps selection, Lavulo was the top defensive player in the West Catholic Athletic League and helped power the Padres to their first CIF State bowl.
LB - Jake Bellecci, Sr., Elk GroveA four-year starter and a repeat Sacramento Bee All-Metro pick, Bellicci was the heart and soul of the Thundering Herd defense that helped produce an 11-2 season.
LB - Christian Wiseman, Sr., Menlo-Atherton (Atherton)A San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Arae Preps pick, Wiseman had 171 tackles in leading a team that won Central Coast Section and NorCal titles.
DB - Tre White, Sr., De La SalleA Bay Area Preps pick, White had another stellar season in helping the Spartans return to the CIF State Open Division finals.
DB - Bennett Williams, Sr., Saint Francis (Mountain View)The Bay Area Preps South Bay/Peninsula Defensive Player of the Year helped key a defense that allowed fewer than two touchdowns a game for a 10-2 team.
DB - Tariq Bracy, Jr., MilpitasA San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Area Preps pick, Bracy was strong on defense and also accumulated 2,854 total yards.
DB - Je'quari Godfrey, Sr., Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland)A San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Area Preps pick, Godfrey helped the Dragons win a CIF State title. He is off to Cal.
