Helix hasn't had much luck against Mater Dei Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Highlanders will face off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. Helix is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Helix's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Monte Vista 18-0. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won nine in a row.
Helix got a great performance from Vivienne Munoz as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Munoz has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kamilah Jones, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikaylah Domingo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Helix kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mater Dei Catholic won against Olympian two weeks ago with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Monday. The Crusaders beat Mission Hills by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Arri Romero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Charlize 'Chuck' Masingale was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Lilia Alpuche was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Mater Dei Catholic pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Helix, their record now sits at 9-4.
Both Helix and Mater Dei Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Highlanders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Mater Dei Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Helix might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Mater Dei Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
