Hart extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-14. They lost 18-6 to the Holton Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on Thursday.
Jordan Theis was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Halen Boos was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
As for Holton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7-1. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Like Hart, Holton also got a great game from a two-way player: Lane Frees. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Frees also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Holton is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6-1 otherwise. Frees was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Fisher Mirkle was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Holton is undefeated when Mirkle posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7-1 otherwise. Nathan Greene was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Hart is taking a road trip to take on Western Michigan Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Holton, they have already played their next contest, a 17-1 defeat against Wayland on the 9th.
