It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Whitko Wildcats can now relate to. They took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights on Saturday. Whitko's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Whitko's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayma Stonebraker, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Gwen Howard was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Wayne Bishop Luers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addie Shank, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Shank has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Miley Wareing, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Whitko's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Whitko does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they and Lafayette Central Catholic will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
