Scotts Valley has gone 8-2 against Santa Cruz recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Scotts Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Scotts Valley was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Chico.
Scotts Valley got a great performance from Sofie Seese as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Seese has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Taylor Wilson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Cruz). They never let Harbor get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Tuesday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Santa Cruz got a big performance out of Phoebe Daodu, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Daodu a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellia Dunton, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
Santa Cruz was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harbor only posted a batting average of .062.
Santa Cruz's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Scotts Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scotts Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Santa Cruz struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Scotts Valley's way against Santa Cruz in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Scotts Valley made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
