Dover is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Steubenville, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Dover was ranked 11th). The Crimson Tornadoes fell 7-3 to the Big Red on Saturday. The Crimson Tornadoes' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Jenna Molk was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Sophie Bantum also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Wooster made easy work of Cloverleaf on Saturday and carried off an 8-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won three in a row.
Brielle Burchett made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Burchett was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Boyd, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Dover's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Wooster, their record now sits at 4-14.
Wooster's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dover hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Wooster, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Dover's hitters?
Everything went Dover's way against Wooster in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Dover made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crimson Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
