The Indian Creek Braves are taking a road trip to take on the North Putnam Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Indian Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Indian Creek hadn't beaten Martinsville on the road since March 30, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Braves came out on top in a nail-biter against the Artesians, sneaking past 4-2.
Colt DeHart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Indian Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Harden, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Mason Woodke also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
North Putnam came out on top against Fountain Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Cougars won by a run and slipped past the Mustangs 7-6. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Jackson Andrews tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Griffen Starr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Windmiller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
North Putnam's record now sits at 8-10. As for Indian Creek, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7.
Indian Creek beat North Putnam 6-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
