Montgomery is a perfect 10-0 against Bucktail since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will square off against the Bucks at 4:30 p.m. The game will give Montgomery their first taste of in-conference action this season.
On Monday, Montgomery came up short against Hughesville and fell 8-4. The loss put an end to the Red Raiders' undefeated start to the season.
Parker Persing was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Briar Persing, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bucktail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Cameron County.
Tyler Hillyer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Hillyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Angelo Tarantella made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Cael Dorman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Montgomery fell to 2-1. As for Bucktail, their record is now 0-1.
Montgomery came out on top in a nail-biter against Bucktail in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
