Two dominant guards in Kedelin Santos and Vasiliki Sotos are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mechanicsville Mustangs will be playing at home against the Atlee Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mechanicsville can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 55-19 win over Patrick Henry. The win was just what Mechanicsville needed coming off of a 71-34 defeat in their prior matchup.
Mechanicsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elizabeth Hardwick, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Hardwick is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Santos, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Atlee beat Varina 53-47 on Tuesday. The win was just what Atlee needed coming off of a 63-28 defeat in their prior contest.
Mechanicsville's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Atlee, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.
Mechanicsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Atlee in their previous matchup back in January, winning 63-53. Does Mechanicsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Atlee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
