Basketball Recap: Brock Mccarter Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

There's no place like home for Overton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Shelton Bulldogs by a score of 63-55 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on January 3rd, they had to take a 65-43 loss.

Overton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brock McCarter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Those 24 points gave McCarter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Luther, who went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points along with six boards and five assists.

Despite the loss, Shelton still got an impressive performance from Jaxson Ohlman, who went 9 for 22 on his way to 27 points. Ohlman has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Harper Thober was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

The win got Overton back to even at 8-8. As for Shelton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season.

Overton will host Elm Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Overton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Shelton, they will head out on the road to challenge Blue Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shelton also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.8 points per game.
